“Never think you need to apologize for asking someone to give to a worthy objective, ……the duty of giving is as much his as the duty of asking yours. Whether or not he should give to that particular enterprise, and if so, how much, it is for him alone to decide”. (John D. Rockefeller)
Variety - the Children's Charity, an organisation that caters to the diverse needs of sick, disadvantaged and disabled children is indeed a worthy objective. I would like to kindly ask you to join my fundraising effort for this organisation as part of my participation in the Miss World event. As a preliminary candidate in this pageant, it is a privilege to be able to support Variety - even in a small way. Whether I continue on or not in the pageant will not diminish my support for Variety and I value the experience and opportunity the event has provided for me to raise awareness of its projects and mission.
John F Kennedy once said that “Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future”, I fervently believe we must provide as much opportunity, innovative channels for development and growth as possible - especially for children with special needs. This is where Variety steps in, to generously support children and families, particularly when Government funds are unavailable or specialised aids are costly. However, it needs on-going capital to run its many programs.
My involvement in organisations who give back to the community stems from a level of concern I expressed to my mother in high school about how many kids I knew who shared my passion for the arts but were unable to afford to pursue this.
In 2011, together with a team we developed YPAQ a non-for-profit organisation which provided weekly workshops and intensive holiday courses. The organisation provided scholarships, sponsored positions and opportunities for disadvantaged students.
YPAQ is so looking forward to the year ahead awaiting the newly renovated premises from BCC.
This experience was pivotal in broadening my interest to involve myself in initiatives that provide opportunities for others. I am so thrilled to now be able to add Variety Children’s Charity to that list.
Therefore I kindly ask you to recognise the precious work done by Variety and please provide whatever financial support you can to allow them to continue to deliver their core programs. Most significantly these are: providing more freedom e.g wheelchairs, bikes; more medical equipment to help care for seriously ill children at home; more educational services and prospects for children.
I sincerely appreciate you joining my initiative to fundraise for Variety through its long-term partnership with Miss World.
On behalf of Variety, I thank you for your generous donation which you have made in recognition of their important role in the community.
